The Necessity of Wilderness Archways Seminar is very different from other Archways Seminar (AWS) classes offered at NWU. This canoe trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) is the experience-based component of the Archways Seminar class. Once fall semester classes begin we will continue to explore wilderness through readings, discussion, personal reflection, and documentary films.
A second difference is that the professor directly selects the 14 students that will be in this AWS. To be considered for the class you must complete an application and submit it to Dr. Bricker by the application due date. To do so, download the Application Form (see link at the bottom of this page), fill it out, and send it to me (email is best: email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org).
Lastly, students selected for the class will be notified as soon as their application is received and processed. There is a $300 fee for this trip to help offset expenses (e.g., dehydrated food, equipment rental, transportation). Students selected for the class have until July 14, 2017 to submit the course fee.
I am glad to visit with you to answer any of your questions about the trip and the class. My information is available on the Application Form or you can drop me an email.
