In order to discuss a common theme while we are in the BWCAW, you will read one of the course required texts this summer: The Singing Wilderness by Sigurd Olson (available online and at the NWU bookstore).
Olson played an important role in getting the Boundary Waters protected as a wilderness area. While reading the book, note Olson’s interaction with the wilderness and write a paper describing the value Olson confers upon wilderness. Use several different examples from his book as evidence to support your claim.
You will turn in your essay the evening of August 6th when we meet as a group (but don't worry, you get pizza in return!). A common question is “how long should the paper be?” The answer is whatever length it takes to produce your best effort.
